| Common Name | PC(16:1(9Z)/17:0) |

| Description | PC(16:1(9Z)/17:0) is a phosphatidylchloline (PC). It is a glycerophospholipid in which a phosphorylcholine moiety occupies a glycerol substitution site. As is the case with diacylglycerols, phosphatidylcholines can have many different combinations of fatty acids of varying lengths and saturation attached to the C-1 and C-2 positions. PC(16:1(9Z)/17:0), in particular, consists of one 9Z-hexadecenoyl chain to the C-1 atom, and one heptadecanoyl to the C-2 atom. In E. coli, PCs can be found in the integral component of the cell outer membrane. They are hydrolyzed by Phospholipases to a 2-acylglycerophosphocholine and a carboxylate. This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). Pc(16:1(9z)/17:0) is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically PC(16:1(9Z)/17:0) is part of the human exposome. The exposome can be defined as the collection of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual's exposure begins before birth and includes insults from environmental and occupational sources. |
