Gamma butyrolactones are compounds containing a gamma butyrolactone moiety, which consists of an aliphatic five-member ring with four carbon atoms, one oxygen atom, and bears a ketone group on the carbon adjacent to the oxygen atom (8alpha,10beta,11beta)-3-Hydroxy-4,15-dinor-1(5)-xanthen-12,8-olide has been detected, but not quantified in, fats and oils. This could make (8alpha,10beta,11beta)-3-hydroxy-4,15-dinor-1(5)-xanthen-12,8-olide a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (8alpha,10beta,11beta)-3-Hydroxy-4,15-dinor-1(5)-xanthen-12,8-olide. |
