Metabolite Identification
Common NameInositol-P-ceramide
DescriptionInositol-P-ceramide is found in the sphingolipid metabolism pathway. Inositol-P-ceramide is formed when α hydroxyphytoceramide and inositol phosphate react. The reaction is catalyzed by inositol phosphoceramide synthase. Inositol-P-ceramide reacts with GDP-α-D-mannose to produce mannosyl-inositol-phosphorylceramide and GDP. This reaction is catalyzed by inositol phosphorylceramide mannosyltransferase.
